Introduction

Bridgestone Americas, is a tire and rubber company that develops, manufactures, and sells tires and other products in the Americas. BSAM is a subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, the world's largest tire and rubber company.

Project Scope

For our senior capstone project, my team and I will focus on streamlining and enhancing the user experience of Bridgestone’s Tire Health Management (THM) tools. With the current landscape fragmented across applications like Tyrata, Geotab, and Intellitire, our goal is to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement. We will conduct in-depth user research—including interviews and usability testing—to analyze user interactions and pinpoint pain points.

Our deliverables will include a competitive analysis, user personas, and actionable recommendations to enhance Bridgestone’s ecosystem. Ultimately, we aim to provide ATS with a strategic plan for a more seamless and user-friendly tire health management experience.

User Research & Stakeholder Engagement

We began by engaging a diverse group of stakeholders, including fleet technicians, managers, and internal corporate professionals. Each provided unique insights into the challenges of current Tire Health Management (THM) tools. Remote interviews were structured yet flexible to encourage genuine responses. Key questions such as “What challenges do you face when monitoring tire health?” and “What features would make your work more efficient?” helped uncover common pain points like navigation difficulties and data interpretation issues.

Workflow Observations & Real-World Insights

Observing users in their actual work environments provided a deeper understanding of inefficiencies and user workarounds. These sessions revealed gaps between tool capabilities and user needs, highlighting friction points that may not be evident in interviews alone. By analyzing how professionals adapt their workflows, we identified opportunities to refine and align tool functionalities with real-world expectations.

Usability Testing & Data-Driven Analysis

We conducted usability tests where participants completed key tasks, such as accessing tire health metrics and setting alerts. By tracking success rates, documenting challenges, and measuring user satisfaction, we gained empirical data to inform improvements. These findings are being synthesized into functional mockups to visualize potential solutions and guide design revisions.
